At the second step of map printing wizard work ObjectLand specific setup of the printed theme display is performed (figure 16-2).
Figure 16-2. Map printing wizard, step 2
Checkboxes of the pane Options enable the user to control some displaying elements.
The box Color for devices of color display allows the user to specify whether colors should be used or black-and-white display should be performed. For monochrome devices this checkbox indicates how map symbols and lines should be displayed (including the boundaries of area features and hatch lines): if the box is checked, the most appropriate shade of gray color is used, if it is cleared – the black color is used. Fillings are always displayed by the shades of gray color.
The boxes Hatching and Filling indicate if these elements should be displayed.
When the box Border is checked, a rectangular frame will be drawn around the displayed theme.
When the box Selection is checked, selection of features in the browsed theme will be shown.
The panes Scale and Margins allow specifying allocation of the rectangle in which the theme will be displayed, that is, determine the rectangle size and its allocation on a sheet of paper.
The right part of the window is occupied by allocation pane which represents a layout of a sheet of paper. The proportion of the height and width of the sheet corresponds to the paper format selected at the previous wizard step. A rectangular contour of the displayed theme is shown by a blue line on the sheet layout.
The user can either locate the theme on a sheet using a mouse or specify parameters for allocation from the keyboard or combine the two methods.
To allocate the theme using a mouse you should make sure that the box in the pane Scale is cleared and all four boxes in the pane of Margins are also cleared. In this case the user can move the theme contour within the sheet layout holding down the left mouse button. To change displaying scale, the cursor should be placed on one of the marked squares in the corners of the contour. The cursor takes the form of a bi-directional arrow. Clicking the left mouse button the contour corner can be dragged, thus changing the displaying size. In this case the scale and field sizes are calculated automatically and are displayed in the corresponding panes.
To specify allocation of the theme from the keyboard, it is required to check the box Scale and two boxes in the pane Margins (one box from the pair Top/Bottom and one – from the pair Left/Right). Then numeric values of the corresponding parameters can be assigned. However, it is necessary to track that the specified values didn't take the theme display outside the sheet range.
The checked box means that the present parameter should be specified form the keyboard, not using a mouse. Thus until the boxes are checked, moving a theme by a mouse is locked.
A combined method of allocation is possible when one or two boxes are checked. For example, if only the box Upper is checked, it is possible to move theme contour horizontally using a mouse and also change its sizes, but the upper theme corner will remain at a fixed distance from the upper corner of the sheet.
The button of window in the scale pane can be used only in the case if the printing operation is called from the map browser window. When pushing this button the scale of printing which is equal to the current displaying scale in the browser window is set.
After completing the setup, the button OK for performing printing should be pushed. The button Cancel enables the user to cancel print setup at any time.
The set value of the printing scale is saved for subsequent printing operation. It makes the task of printing several themes in one and the same scale easier.
