Making up a report

To control the selection and characteristics of query fields included into the report the possibilities of hiding and rearranging fields and also of renaming and changing the width of fields can be used.

The pane Format of the dialog box of printing a table contains radio buttons enabling selection of one of three variants of arranging field values of every record on the sheet.

If the Vertical format is specified, the name and value of one record field is printed in every line. In this case the number of lines occupied by every record is equal to the number of fields in the printed query. Horizontal one-line format is a more usual one. If this mode is selected, every record occupies one line, that is, the report looks the same way as when browsing a query on the screen. The difference of one-line horizontal format from Horizontal multiline format is that if the field value exceeds the set width, it is truncated for a one-line format just as in display in the browser window, while for a multi-line format it is printed in next lines. The width of each field when printing it in horizontal format is just the same as the one specified in the table browser window.

The system allows the user to print a report the width of which, that is, the total width of all fields in horizontal format, exceeds the page width. In this case every page of the report is as if cut along the vertical line in accordance with the width of the page, and every fragment will be printed on a separate sheet of paper.

The pane Page margins serve for specifying boundaries of a page when it is printed. To select the paper format the button Properties in the pane Printer should be used.

The pane Parameters permits the user to specify the report title and printing of line numbers.

If the box Page title is checked, the title will be printed on every page of the report. The title can be entered into the input field located at the bottom of the pane. If the box Record numbers is checked, for every record the number corresponding to its number in the table browser window will be printed.

The button Font enables selection for printing of one of the fonts set in the operating system.
