Size and position of map symbol

When displaying a map the base point of map symbol coincides with coordinates of the point feature on the map. To change the position of the base point with respect to the graphic image of map symbol in the editing pane it is required to use the tool Location of coordinate axes (the button ).

When the cursor is placed on the vertical or horizontal coordinate axis it will take the shape . If the left mouse button is pushed after that and the mouse is moved, location of the corresponding coordinate axis will be changed.

The height of the bounding box of the map symbol is considered to be the size of the map symbol. The size is specified in map units for every point feature (chapter 9 “Map structure”). To change the bounding box in the editing pane (that is, relative size of map symbol) the command Location of coordinate axes (the button ) or the command Edit+Set Real Boundaries should be used.

If one pushes the button , small square handles will appear on the sides of the bounding box (figure 79-1), the cursor placed on these handles will take the shape . If the left mouse button is pushed after that and the mouse is moved, the corresponding size will be changed.

After performing the command Edit+Set Real Boundaries the style editor builds a bounding box in such a way that it was a rectangular circumscribing the graphic image of the map symbol.

The command View+Axes permits turning on or turning off display of coordinate axes and the bounding box.
