General permissions to maps

When this box is checked, other checkboxes determine general permissions to all maps of the current GDB.

When the box is cleared, the pane of list of maps is activated and other checkboxes determine permissions to the map selected in the list.

Permissions to any particular map cannot be more extensive than general permissions to maps.

Pane of list of maps

Contains a list of maps of the current GDB and permits choosing any map in this list for viewing and changing permissions of the user to this map.

Access

This is the main permission to maps.

If this permission is revoked for a particular map, map's name will not be displayed in the list of maps for the present user. If this permission is revoked on the level of general permission to all maps, type of components “Maps” will not be displayed in the tree of GDB structure for this user.

Revoking access to the map also revokes access to all cataloged themes built on the basis of this map.

This permission has higher level than other permissions to maps described below. Clearing the box Access leads to clearing remaining boxes.

Access via themes only

If this permission is set, the user cannot work directly with a map. Possibilities of access to map data are limited for him only to map components which are included into existing cataloged themes, and he cannot get access to those map layers, feature types and links which are not included into the structure of a cataloged theme.

Resetting permission only via themes does not reduce but on the contrary increases the total volume of user permissions since it means getting permission not only via themes.

Setting permission only via themes revokes the permission to change map structure.

Structure changing

Gives a possibility to change structure of map or its components (including the structure of links between map feature types and tables) and also to remove a map.

If permission to change structure has been revoked at the level of general permissions for all maps creating new maps is disabled.

Permission to change map structure can be granted only in the case if permission to change GDB structure is given.

Data changing

Allows adding, removing, editing map features and also adding and removing links between features and records of linked tables.

If there is no such a permission it is impossible to perform other operations which can result in changing map features, such as transformation of coordinates, cleaning a map, import of data to a map, sewing features and sewing rollback, geocoding, changing parameters of point features, updating texts after editing font.

Revoking the permission to change data revokes permission to change map structure.

Permission to change map data can be granted only in the case if permission to change GDB data is granted.

Information

Permits getting table data linked with selected features when browsing a map.

Search

Gives a possibility to select features in displaying pane in the course of browsing a map and get data about selected features in the information bar. Besides, this permission gives a possibility to change filter conditions for feature types, turn on and turn off theme filter.
