Window “Editor control”

Purpose

The window “Editor control” permits the user to control the process of interactive editing of map features and also track the current values of coordinates and other parameters of the edited feature in the course of editing.

The information in the control window is located on three tabbed pages “Input”, “Information” and “Snap Grid” and also on the lower pane of the window.

Page “Input”

The page serves for specifying parameters when adding a new feature. Parameters of this page are not taken into account when editing existing features.

Drop-down lists Layer and Type permit selecting the layer and type of features of the browsed theme to which next added feature will belong.

Other elements of this page depend on the spatial category of the feature being added. They are be described in corresponding parts of documentation.

Page “Information”

On this page parameters of the feature selected for editing are displayed. A set of parameters depends on the spatial category of selected feature. Right in the process of performing editing operations the list of displayed parameters is considerably extended including continuously tracked values of parameters of shifting feature from the original position. It is possible to “freeze” display of some feature parameters by clearing the box to the left of parameter's name. In this case the changed parameter value will be shown only after the editing operation is completed.

Page “Snap Grid”

On page “Snap Grid” parameters of editing grid which can be used in the editing process for rounding coordinate values of features being edited are specified.

If the box Visible is checked, the editing grid is displayed in the form of a set of equidistant points. The distance between the points and position of the initial point can be adjusted using the fields Step X, Y and Base point X, Y.

If the box Snap features is checked, when the feature is moved, coordinates of object binding points will always coincide with coordinates of one of grid points. The first vertex in the order of building vertices is a binding point for area and line features, for point features – the feature itself, for text features – the top left corner of the bounding box, for image features – the first vertex of the boundary.

The box Snap vertices causes coincidence of every feature vertex being added or moved with some grid point.

If the box Snap sizes is checked, when the feature size is changed the width and height of the bounding box will be set by multiple grid steps horizontally and vertically accordingly.

Lower pane of the window

The checkbox Attract allows turning on attraction mode for which precise coincidence of edges of neighboring features is provided in the course of input. The value of attraction radius is set in the field Radius located nearby.

There are three checkboxes available which allow the user to modify performing attraction operation:

The checkbox Capture permits turning on the capture mode which means that when edges of the feature being edited are slightly changed, coinciding or very close edges of neighboring features will be changed accordingly. The degree of closeness (capture radius) is set in the field Radius located near.

The checkbox Fix of slope angle is used when rotating text features. If the box is checked, as a result of performing the operation of rotating a text feature, its slope angle towards the horizontal axis will take the value divisible by the value indicated (in degrees) in the field Step to the right of this checkbox.

The checkbox Fix rotation angle allows specifying the step to which the value of slope angle will be changed when performing operations of rotating features or their vertices. If this box is checked, the system will permit performing rotation to the angle which value is divisible by the value (in degrees) specified in the field Step to the right of the checkbox.

If the box Keep proportions is checked, in interactive changing of sizes of line, area or image feature the ratio of height of the feature to its width will remain unchanged.

The box Change image boundaries is checked when operations of interactive editing connected with changing boundaries of image feature visibility are performed. Raster georegistration to the map will not be changed.
