Purpose

This page of the property sheet “Properties of query” contains request parameters to an external data source used to get the resultant set of records of the query.

If viewing of properties of a cataloged query from the navigation window is performed, values of parameters specified when adding EDB are displayed. If the property sheet is opened from the query browser window (that is, the corresponding request to the data source has been performed already), actual values of some parameters are additionally displayed.

Request modes

The field Max data length of long values specifies the number of characters (bytes) counted from the beginning of long field which are displayed in the browser window of EDB query. By default the value of the maximum data length of long values equal to 100 characters (bytes) is taken.

The value specified in the field Request timeout determines the interval of time of expecting execution of the request to the data source. If the set timeout value is zero, ObjectLand will be expecting execution of the request unrestrictedly long.

The value in the field Rowset size determines how many records of the resultant set will be read during one request to the data source. The size of the rowset which is actually used also depends on peculiarities of every concrete data source.

For the browsed query actual values of parameters of Request timeout and Rowset size determined after the request has been executed are also displayed.

Totals for calculated fields

This checkbox is referred only to queries which are built constructively and which contain calculated fields. It determines whether total calculations by each calculated field should be performed. By default these values are not calculated.
