The window serves for creating and editing hatch style.
A hatch consists of a set of hatch elements where every element can be considered as a line style. Maximum number of elements in one hatch is 255. Every element apart from vectorial image and section width (as in line style) has individual slope angle and step.
The list pane contains a list of attributes of hatch elements. For every element section width, slope angle and step are specified.
A section of hatch element is a fragment of a line and can consist of several graphic primitives like for line style. The step specifies the distance between hatch lines. Slope angle specifies slope of the hatch element with respect to the horizontal line.
The element selected in the list pane is considered to be the current element – it is displayed in the editing pane.
The context menu of the pane contains commands corresponding to items of the menu Element.
The editing pane like the similar one for the editor of vectorial map symbols is marked by a grid of 256 to 256 points. Individual elements of image in the editing pane – vectors, circles, texts – are bound to these points. If the whole grid does not fit into the pane it is possible to perform horizontal or vertical scrolling to view all the image.
The point of the editing pane corresponds to one pixel of the display like for the editor of line style.
The command View+Grid permits turning on or turning off display of grid points of the editing pane.
It is possible to change the distance between grid points of the editing pane thus changing displaying scale of map symbol. Commands Zoom in and Zoom out are used for this purpose – toolbar buttons
and
.
Horizontal red dashed line is the base line, cross of red dashed lines – base point. To the right of the base point at the distance of section width there is vertical blue dashed line.
The command View+Axes permits turning on or turning off display of coordinate axes and a line of section width.
Originally the editing pane is as if filled in with transparent color and a white sheet is put under it, that is, the background of the editing pane is white.
It is possible to set any background color using the command View+Background Color. After performing this command all elements displayed by transparent color will have the set background color in the editing pane. However, when drawing the hatch on the map the corresponding elements will be transparent.
Operations of editing a style in the editing pane are described below.
Permits changing line style of selected graphic primitive and setting the current style. All newly created elements will be drawn with the current style.
Dotted lines can be applied only with unit line width. That is, if line width of more than one pixel is specified, only solid lines will be drawn.
Allows the user to change line width of selected graphic primitive and set the current width. Newly created primitives will be drawn using the current width.
Line width is specified in pixels.
The palette permits changing the color of selected graphic primitive and setting the current colors – pen color and filling color.
All newly created graphic primitives – segments, boundaries of circles and rectangles, inscriptions, will be drawn by the current pen color. The current filling color is used for filling of inner area of a circle or a polygon.
To set the pen color one should click by the left mouse button in the palette. A click by the right mouse button in the palette permits setting filling color.
By default the pen color is black, and the filling color – transparent.
A crossed square in the right bottom corner of the palette denotes transparent color. Its color in the palette corresponds to the background color of the editing pane.
The sample pane displays reduced image of the style being edited. A click in the pane or the command View+Sample allow performing display in a separate window.
Shows the current editing tool and current position of the cursor in the editing pane.
| Select – serves for selecting graphic primitives, moving and changing size of selected primitives. |
| Location of coordinate axes – serves for changing position of the base point. |
| Line – serves for drawing line segments. |
| Circle – serves for drawing circles. |
| Polygon – serves for drawing polygons. |
| Text – serves for creating text inscriptions. |
| Delete – removes selected graphic primitives. |
| Clean – cleans image, that is, removes all primitives in the editing pane. |
| Bring to front – places selected graphic primitives to the foreground, on top of others. |
| Send to back – places selected graphic primitives to the background, behind others. |
| Zoom in and Zoom out – changes displaying scale of the editing pane, that is, the distance between points in the editing pane. |
Clean | Permits cleaning image, that is, removing graphic primitives in the editing pane. |
Copy | Allows copying another hatch to the editing pane. Dialog box “Select style for copying” is used. Before copying the editing pane is cleaned. |
Add | Allows adding primitives of another hatch to the editing pane. Dialog box “Select style for adding” is used. Before copying the editing pane is not cleaned, that is, copied image is added to existing one. |
Save | Serves for saving made changes. |
Save as | Serves for saving edited style under a different name. |
Close | Serves for completing editing and closing the editor window. If saving of changes was not performed, before closing the window a question will be asked about the necessity to perform saving. |
Add | Permits adding a new hatch element. |
Change | Permits changing parameters of the current hatch element – step and slope angle and section width. |
Delete | Allows removing the current hatch element. |
Move | A nested menu containing items: Up, Down, Top, Bottom is opened. It permits changing order of hatch elements in the list and their drawing order correspondingly. |
Delete | Permits removing selected graphic primitives. |
Bring to Front | Allows moving selected graphic primitives to the foreground (background), that is, above all other primitives (under other primitives). |
Grid | Permits turning on or turning off display of grid points of the editing pane. |
Axes | Allows turning on or turning off display of axes and display of line of section width. |
