Dialog box “Insert object”

Purpose

The dialog box serves for inserting OLE object into a field of object type.

Panes

Create new

If this radio button is set, creation of a new object using one of Windows applications registered as OLE servers will be performed.

The list Object Type contains a list of all classes of objects supported by available OLE servers. After selecting the object type and pushing the button OK a window of the corresponding server application enabling the user to edit and view created object will be opened.

Created object will be stored in the structure of the current GDB (a separate file will not be created for the object), and viewing and editing the object contents will be performed using the appropriate OLE server.

Create from File

In this case the object will be created on the basis of a file of one of the types processed by OLE servers. The necessary file should be selected using the button Browse. If the user wants to view the file contents first, he can use the button Preview.

If the box Link is cleared, contents of the file will be copied to GDB. If it is checked, the object will still be stored in the file, but GDB will store only the path to this file. In this case the checkbox Save relative path determines the way the path will be stored: in absolute form (beginning from disk letter) or in relative form with respect to the folder where the current GDB is located.

Result

The pane contains a brief description of selected variant of OLE object creation.
