Names of users of the current GDB are given in the list pane. GDB administrator and the current user are marked by signs “+”.

After creating a new GDB its list of users is empty. It can remain empty all the time and the tools of access control are not used in this case, the whole GDB is accessible for any user.

Commands of the menu Edit permit adding and removing users of the current GDB, changing their names and passwords, viewing and changing properties of users. These commands will be examined in detail below.

If the list of users is empty, only the command of adding a user is accessible. The first added user becomes the administrator of the present GDB.

Adding an administrator to an empty list is the very moment when access control comes into force for the present GDB. When this GDB is opened next time, the system will request user name and password. If the administrator didn't add someone else into the list of users, he becomes the only person who can work with this database.

In mode of shared access to GDB any changes in the list of users are disabled.
