The page “GDB” of the property sheet “Properties of user” is shown at figure 87-1.

This page contains a group of checkboxes permitting the system to grant and revoke permissions of selected user belonging to the current GDB as a whole and also to such GDB components as GDB library styles and users. These permissions are examined below.
Structure changing – allows changing structure of GDB and its components. The notion of a structure was described in detail in chapter 50 “Operations of copying”. If the permission to change structure is absent, the user can change data (features, table records, links between features and records) but cannot, for example, add a new feature type, change map parameters, remove the table and so on.
Revoking permission to change structure also leads to revoking of permissions to change library styles, list of users, name and password, since all these permissions assume the possibility of some changes of GDB structure. Besides, permissions to change structure for all GDB components are revoked.
Data changing – permits changing data stored in the current GDB. If this permission was revoked, the user has no possibility to change anything in GDB anymore. He cannot add, change, remove features, table records, links between features and records, change structure of GDB and its components, make changes in the list of users.
Revoking of this permission causes revoking of all permissions given by other checkboxes of the same pane since all these permissions assume the possibility of some changes in GDB. Apart from that, permissions to change data for all GDB components are revoked.
GDB library changing – this permission gives a possibility to add, remove, edit and rename elements of style library of the current GDB. The absence of this permission does not prevent one from using library elements and copying them to other libraries.
As for shared style library, permission to change it is granted independently of permissions to GDB as it was described in chapter 86 “Managing permissions”.
User list changing – allows viewing a list of users of the current GDB, adding new users and removing the existing ones, changing names, passwords and permissions of users.
If this permission is granted, permission to change the name and password of the current user is given automatically.
Name and password changing – permits the current user to change his or her own name and password even if this user has no permission to change users.
If the current user has permission to change his or her own name and password but has no permission to change users, the system does not display other users except for the current one in the list in the navigation windows, in the menu Edit only the commands Rename and Name and Password are enabled.
