The pane “Copying region” is active only if an operation variant whole or graphics is chosen, i.e. if copying of map features is to be performed in the course of operation. This pane permits specifying an area in the source map to which features to be copied should belong. By default, this area is not defined, so features will be copied regardless of its positions.
After pushing the button Set up the dialog box “Copying Region” is opened (figure 52-7).
Figure 52-7. Dialog box “Copying Region”
This dialog box is analogous with that of entering/editing of an area feature (see chapter 17 “Adding and editing features”, subsection “Coordinate adding and modification of area features”), with the exception of absence of the pane aimed to select a layer and a feature type. Similarity of these windows results from the fact that a copying region like an area feature is defined as a polygon having an outer boundary and perhaps several inner boundaries.
If the region of copying is specified then the combo box Extent of intersection for becomes active. It permits specifying conditions for including features into this region. One can choose from three variants:
Rough Evaluation (faster) – means a fast but not always accurate algorithm for testing feature's location. In that case, some features which are located close to the copying region but not belong to it, can be included to this region. Thus, some “excess” features can be copied.
Partly Located – an accurate (but more slow) analysis of features' location is performed, and only those features which have at least one common point with the copying region are copied.
Entirely Located – an accurate analysis, and only those features which fall entirely within the copying region are copied.
The rough evaluation is preferable in those cases when the number of features in the copying region and close to it is very large, and at that copying some excess features does not make a problem.
The region of copying is not specified for the variants of copying structure.
