Setting of copying layers

When selecting the line “Layers” in the pane of component types, a list with names of all layers of source map will be displayed in the pane of components.

The context menu of the pane of components contains items: Default, Rename, Do not Copy, Merge. All these items are applied to layer (or layers) selected in the pane.

In case of a conflict of names admissible processing modes for a layer are: Rename, Merge and Do not Copy.

The item Default permits the user to specify default processing mode (Copy) for selected layer – copying a layer of the source map to destination map under the same name. That is, a new layer which is a copy of the source layer will be created in the destination map. The processing mode Copy is set for a layer by default if there is no layer with the same name in the destination map. If the destination map has the layer with the same name already, in this case Undefined will be set in the column “Mode”.

The item Do not Copy permits the user not to copy the selected layer. If the layer of the source map is not copied, it will be removed from copied themes of the destination map. Such elements as tables linked only with types of this layer, queries built on the basis of these tables, library styles of source GDB used only in this layer will not take part in the operation not depending on processing modes chosen for them.

The item Rename permits copying of the layer to destination map under another name. When selecting this item, the system will request a name for the layer being copied. The name of the destination layer will be indicated in the column “Name in destination GDB”.

The item Merge allows the user to merge the selected layer (source layer) of the source map with some layer of destination map (destination layer). The features of the source layer will be copied to the destination layer.

When selecting the item Merge, the system will request the user to select the layer of destination map with which the source layer will be merged. The name of the destination layer will be indicated in the column “Name in destination GDB” in the pane of components.

Layers being merged should have compatible structure:

If merging of layers is performed, links of feature types of the destination layer with tables are supplemented by links with copied tables of the source GDB which are present in analogous types of the source layer. However, fine tuning of copying the links is performed when the line “Links” is selected in the pane of component types (see subsection “Setting of copying links”).

The layer of source map for which the processing mode Merge is specified will be substituted by the corresponding layer of destination map in copied themes of source map.

The Note

Library styles of source GDB used only in the structure of source layer will not be copied not depending on the specified processing modes.
