General characteristic

When performing the operation of copying a feature type, its description and features of this source type are copied to the indicated layer of destination map. A copy can be incomplete, it is possible to specify the region of copying. Apart from the source type itself, other GDB components which are linked with the type some way or other take part in the operation: tables linked with the type; library styles of source GDB used in the type.

The operation of moving consists of two stages: copying description of the source type and its features to the destination layer and removing description and features of the source type from the source layer. All features of the source type are removed together with all links with table records not depending on whether the region of copying has been specified or not. Removing of the source type does not cause removing of tables linked with the source type; records of these tables; queries built on the basis of these tables; library styles of source GDB used in the source type.

As in copying operations, when merging types, features of the source type are copied to the indicated layer of the destination map, but the type of features being copied is changed to the indicated type of the destination layer (destination type). The source and destination types should have the same spatial category. Links of types being merged with tables and their displaying styles can be different.
