The most interesting possibilities of using table data linked with features are opened when working with map browser window. This window was examined in chapter 12. “Themes” but without description of means for working with linked tables which are described in the present chapter.
Further in this chapter we'll often use the notions “feature selected in the pane of map display” and “record selected in the table pane”. Let's agree to call them simply “selected feature” and “selected record”.
There are several ways to get table data about features of the browsed map:
the menu command Theme+Tables permits browsing any table linked at least with one of the displayed feature types;
the menu command Selection+Tables allows the user to perform browsing of any table linked with the type of selected features (if features of one type only are selected);
the toolbar buttons
and
correspond to some variants of the menu commands named above;
the menu command Feature+Info or the toolbar button
allow the user to get access directly to the table records which are linked with selected features without browsing all records.
All these possibilities will be described below.
