The notion of a linked table is used not only for feature types, but for layers of a map or a theme as well and also for a map or a theme as a whole. A table is considered to be linked with a layer if it is linked at least with one feature type of this layer. A table is considered to be linked with a map or a theme if it is linked at least with one layer of this map or theme. For external databases (see chapter 38 “Basic notions of external databases”) links of map feature types not only with EDB tables, but with EDB queries directly omitting tables are also possible (see chapter 43. “Links of maps with tables and queries of EDB”). To get a list of linked tables and queries it is required to select the necessary map, layer or type in the navigation window and perform the menu command Tools+Dependencies+Tables and Queries. A dialog box “Tables and queries linked with…” will be opened. It displays the tree showing links of selected component with tables of the current GDB and also with tables and queries of external databases (figure 32-4). After pushing the button Open a browser window of the selected table or query will be opened.
