To examine map properties the corresponding map should be selected in one of the navigation window panes and the menu command Edit+Properties executed or the button 
in the toolbar pushed. A property sheet “Properties of map” shown at figure 11-1 will be opened.

On page “General” the total number of features in a map and their distribution by layers is indicated. It is possible to get distribution of features by types, but since such calculation can take considerable time, it is not done automatically. To do this the user should check the box Detail by feature types.
The page “Parameters” contains coordinates of the base point, range and partition. All these values can be changed; however, changing parameters of a big GDB will take considerable time.
On page “Permissions” permissions of the current user with respect to the present map are shown.
