Selection of displaying styles of feature types is usually performed by specifying properties “Style” for map components to which these features belong – map layers, map feature types. At the lowest hierarchic level of map components particular feature types are located. In ObjectLand there is no special notion of “feature property”, however, there is a possibility to determine such an important feature property as its specific displaying style. When displaying a map the features for which their specific style is specified are displayed by this very style not depending on displaying styles specified in the structure of map layers and feature types.
To specify feature's specific style this feature should be selected first. It is possible to select several features and specify one and the same style for them, however, all selected features should belong to one spatial category (but not necessarily to one feature type).
When performing the menu command Selection+Style a dialog box “Style of features” is opened. This dialog box is analogous to the page “Style” in property sheets of components described above. For area features this dialog box contains three pages to specify the fill style of internal area of features, hatch style of this area and line style for feature boundary accordingly (see figure 13-2). For features of other spatial categories the dialog box “Style of features” contains only one page for selecting the corresponding style.

Selection of style is performed exactly the same as for layers and feature types. If the radio button Use inherited style is checked, selected features do not have their specific style. Radio buttons From GDB library and From shared library allow selection of any style from the specified library as a specific style for selected features.
