Text features

A text feature consists of one or several lines of characters. Apart from these lines, the text is determined by the size (the height) of characters, base point coordinates and text slope angle towards the horizontal axis.

Character size is measured in map units. Usually character size includes a small field under characters. Besides, some characters may have elements which exceed the size bounds above or below.

If the text contains several lines, the system inserts interline spaces between them.

For each text feature the system builds a minimal bounding box which circumscribes this text. The height of the bounding box determines the text size. Its width depends on the character width of the used font. The higher left corner of the bounding box is a base point, which coordinates, X and Y, specify the text feature position on the map.

At figure 9-4 an example of text feature is given and parameters characterizing this text are shown.
