The access to these properties is achieved as described above for theme layer properties, the only difference is that the feature type of the theme layer should be selected.
The property sheet “Properties of feature type” for theme feature type differs from a similar window for map feature type and contains the following pages:
The page “General” contains the name of the type itself, the names of layer and theme to which the layer belongs and also data on the original feature type of a GDB component on the base of which this feature type of theme layer is built. The following origins can be indicated here:
a feature type of a GDB map layer;
a feature type of an EDB layer (see chapter 41 “Main EDB components”, subsection “EDB Layers”);
a feature type of a work layer of the theme.
Besides, spatial category of features is indicated on this page.
For feature types of a work layer of the theme, the page “General” also contains the total number of features of that type. Since counting features can be rather time-consuming operation, it is executed only if the button Count is pushed.
The page “Parameters” contains only one box Selectable. If this box is cleared, selection of features of the present type is impossible during theme browsing, not depending on the status of the similar checkbox from theme layer properties. If the box is checked, the possibility of selection depends on the state of the box Selectable for the theme layer.
Page “Parameters” contains two checkboxes:
Selectable – if this box is cleared then selecting features of this type is impossible regardless of the state of checkbox with the same name in theme layer properties. If the box is checked then the possibility of selecting features depends on the state of the box Selectable in the theme layer properties.
Visible – if the box is cleared then the features of the present type are not displayed when browsing this theme.
It should be remembered that managing indication of selectability and visibility can be performed not only on this property page but also in auxiliary window “Legend” (see chapter 12 “Themes”, subsection “Legend”).
The page “Styles” is identical to the similar page of the property sheet “Properties of feature type” for map feature type. According to the rules of inheritance, these styles are used when displaying those features for which feature specific style is not specified. At the same time styles of theme feature types override the inherited theme layer styles and also the styles of map layers and map feature types.
The page “Tables” enables the user to view and change links of feature types with tables used when browsing the present theme.
The page “Links” allows to view and change links of the given feature type with tables and queries used on browsing this theme.
The page “Scale zones” is present in the property sheet only in the case if scale zones are specified for the present theme. Its usage is analogous to that of the similar page of the property sheet of theme layer properties (see figure 15-9).
