To create a cataloged query of EDB which was built by a constructive method, the same methods as for queries on the basis of internal tables described in chapter 30 “Queries” can be used, namely:
Commands Query+Save, Query+Save As in the browser window of EDB table allow cataloguing the browsed EDB query. The system will request a name for the query being cataloged.
The command Edit+Duplicate of the navigation window permits creating a new EDB query, the method of building which will be fully identical to the method of building the existing query of EDB which was selected in one of the window panes in advance.
The command Edit+Add of the navigation window (provided the component “Queries” of one of the opened EDBs is selected in the pane of components) allows creating a new query of EDB. The dialog box “Adding query” shown at figure 41-1 will be opened. The user should enter a name of the query being created and choose if the query will be created on the basis of EDB table by constructive method or specifying the SQL statement SELECT directly. In the first case the system will also require to specify the base EDB table to build a query. The EDB query created in such a way will correspond to the standard method of displaying the base table.

It should be kept in mind that cataloged EDB query will be saved when the current GDB is closed only in the case if the whole EDB is saved in the present GDB.
