The first page of EDB adding wizard is shown at figure 39-1. This page serves for selecting the data source and also allows specifying the name and password of EDB user.

The user can choose one of the two connection modes:
Via ODBC data source – to establish the connection one of the named data sources registered at the present computer will be used. The required data source should be selected in the list.
Addition and setting of data sources is performed using the administrator of ODBC data sources. This service program can be called either from Windows control pane or directly from ObjectLand using the menu command Tools+ODBC Administrator. Setting of data sources should be performed before calling the EDB adding wizard.
Via ODBC driver – in this case the user chooses one of ODBC drivers installed in the system and specifies values of parameters characterising some particular data source and connection mode. When this method is used, the named data source is not created.
Selecting connection mode is the only action which is always necessary when EDB is added. After that the user can push the button Add to complete EDB addition having taken default values for all other parameters. However, the system may request missing parameters depending on the concrete data source or display a message about an error if, for example, the named data source is determined incorrectly and the connection to it cannot be set.
At the same wizard page the user can specify name and password of user if they are required to establish connection with some particular data source. Name and password to external data source are in no way connected to the name and password of GDB user.
Entered user's name and password can be saved in order to avoid repeated entering of this data when connecting to the same data source later.
