Adding EDB in the structure of ObjectLand GDB is a rather complicated process which requires specifying a large number of parameters. To control this process EDB adding wizard is used. This wizard is started at the menu command Edit+Add of the navigation window, if the name of the type of components External databases or any particular EDB is selected in the window pane.
The work of EDB adding wizard consists of four successive steps of specifying parameters at the corresponding pages of the wizard. It is possible to complete addition of the EDB at any step (by pushing the button Add) or cancel it (the button Cancel).
If the user pushes the button Add before reaching the last wizard step, all the settings of further pages which were not visited take default values. If it appears there is not enough data to establish the connection after the button Add is pushed, additional dialog boxes initiated by ODBC driver may appear.
It should be noted that values of some parameters indicated during wizard work do not always correspond to peculiarities of some particular data source. This fact is revealed only when the connection is actually being established. In this case ObjectLand corrects parameter values. The actual values of parameters can be seen in the property sheet of EDB or its components after the connection is established.
