Saving EDB

After EDB addition has been completed, the user can start to work with it: browse tables, create and catalog queries and so on. However, all results of user's work will be retained in the structure of ObjectLand GDB only during the present work session. When closing the GDB, all the data about connection with the data source, connection parameters, cataloged queries of EDB will be lost. But if the changes in EDB records were made during the work session, these changes will be saved in the data source. Only the information about connection with the source is lost, that is why the EDB should be added anew to be able to work with the same external data further.

To be able to use information about the EDB later on, this EDB should be saved in the structure of the current GDB. To do this one should select the present EDB in the pane of the navigation window and perform the menu command Edit+Save. After performing this operation, the EDB will be present in the list of the GDB components, when the user works with the present GDB of ObjectLand further; that is, the data about the method and parameters of connection with the data source will be saved.

In ObjectLand navigation window unsaved EDB are marked by a special sign: , which differs for the saved one: .
