EDB Layers are another important type of components. These components are designed for storing spatial information in EDB, just as such information is stored in GDB map layers. EDB layers give the same possibilities as GDB map layers, namely:
EDB layer can contain feature types which, in their turn, contain spatial features;
EDB layers, their feature types and individual features have a set of properties determining characteristics of their displaying and using;
EDB layers can be displayed either separately or in the structure of themes containing GDB map layers, other layers of opened EDB and work layers;
operatioins of sewing, coordinate transformation, importing and exporting features can be performed for EDB layers and their feature types.
Possibility of creating EDB layers depends on properties of the specific data source. If the source does not provide support for layers, the component “Layers” will miss in the navigation window for the given EDB.
