To change the existing point feature it is required to switch to the mode Edit (the button
) and click this feature to select it for editing (or select the feature at first and then switch to the mode of editing).
Two special handles shown at figure 17-5, a, are displayed on a rectangle bounding point feature in the mode of editing. They are: resizing handle – a white circle on the upper side of the rectangle, and rotation handle – a green circle in the right bottom corner.

The current parameter values of the feature being edited can be seen on page “Information” of the window “Editor control”.
There are four operations of editing point features which can be performed in the mode of drawing:
Moving a feature. It is performed as a standard operation of “dragging”: it is necessary to place the cursor on the feature, press the mouse button, move the cursor to a new position (the feature being moved is displayed as a dotted frame) and release the mouse button thus completing the operation of moving.
Resizing a feature. To do this the cursor should be placed on the resizing handle. Moving this handle while holding down the left mouse button will result in changing feature size retaining its ratio of height towards the width. The parameter “Zoom threshold” is changed proportionally to changing the size of the feature.
Turning a feature. If the cursor is placed on rotation handle, moving the cursor holding down the left mouse button will cause rotation of point feature display around the point located in the middle of the lower side of the bounding box.
Rotation of a feature around the specified center. To perform this, it is necessary to turn on the submode Rotating feature (the button
) remaining in the mode Edit. Rotation handles in the form of green circles will be displayed in the corners of the feature and at some distance from the feature – rotation center, a gray point in a circle will be shown (see figure 17-5, b). This center can be dragged to any position holding down the left mouse button. Then it is required to place the cursor on any rotation handle (cursor form
) and holding down the left button move the feature along the circular arc around the specified rotation center. During such “rotation” orientation of feature map symbol is not changed.
If the cursor is located not on the rotation handle, but on the feature itself, which is placed between handles, moving of a feature to some arbitrary point (as when the submode Rotating feature is turned off), not feature rotation will take place. The rotation center is moved with the feature.
