When working in the mode Edit the user can turn on any combination of two additional submodes: submode Editing vertices (the button
, it works only for line or area features and also when boundaries of image features are changed) and the submode Rotating feature (the button
, it works for all spatial categories). Thus, four combinations of submodes determining different variants for performing editing are available. The main peculiarities of these variants are described below.
Editing a feature as a whole (both submodes are turned off). The following operations can be performed: moving a feature or group of features to another position and also resizing of the feature or group of features (for all feature types, except point ones).
Rotating a feature (only the submode Rotating feature is turned on). Like in the previous variant, it is possible to move features on the map, but not change their sizes. Instead of it rotation of a feature or group of features to an arbitrary angle around the selected rotation center can be performed.
Editing feature vertices (only the submode Editing vertices is turned on). It enables the user to work with individual polyline vertices of a line feature or vertices of area feature boundary: add new vertices, remove and move vertices or groups of vertices.
Rotating feature vertices (both submodes are turned on). It permits rotation of an individual vertex or a group of vertices to an arbitrary angle around the selected rotation center.
The submode Editing vertices can be used only if one feature is selected. If several features are selected for editing, when this submode is turned on, their selection is reset and the user should select one feature again.
