Peculiarities of ObjectLand work in the mode of interactive editing depend on a big number of parameters which values are specified on the page “Map editing” of the property sheet “ObjectLand settings”. This dialog box described in chapter 8 “System parameters setting” is called from the main ObjectLand window when the command GDB+Settings is performed. In table 18-1 there is a list of all adjustable parameters of interactive editing, and also default values assigned to these parameters in ObjectLand installation.
Parameter values are stored in Windows registry, that is why if the user changes them, the new parameter values will operate in next ObjectLand sessions as well until new changes are made.
Changing parameter values will affect the new map browser windows being opened, but it does not affect the windows that were opened before.
Many parameter values are used as default values for different fields of the window “Editor control”. If the user changes values in these fields, the new values are kept until the ObjectLand session is terminated. When ObjectLand is started next time the values specified in the window “ObjectLand settings” will be restored.
More detailed explanation of most parameters was provided in the course of describing the operations of interactive editing.
Parameter name | Parameter values | Default value | Explanation |
Default attraction mode | On/Off | Off | Used when adding line and area features. |
Factor of attraction radius | Real number (fraction of map range) | 0.005 | Attraction radius is evaluated as product of map range to this factor. |
Displaying attraction region | On/Off | On | Used when adding line and area features. |
Default capture mode | On/Off | Off | Used when changing line and area features. |
Factor of capture radius | Real number (fraction of map range) | 0.005 | Capture radius is evaluated as product of map range to this factor. |
Factor of capture threshold | Real number (fraction of map range) | 0.2 | Capture threshold is evaluated as product of map range to this factor. |
Displaying capture region | On/Off | On | Used when changing line and area features. |
Dynamic cursor changeover |
| on any feature | The cursor shape depends on its position with respect to edited features. It is possible to determine the reaction of the system to clicking the mouse button and other actions by the cursor shape. |
Selection of edges | On/Off | On | When clicking any edge point, both end vertices of this edge will be selected. |
Multiple selection of features | On/Off | On | Selection of several features for their joint editing is possible. |
Moving selected features only | On/Off | Off | If this mode is turned on, it is necessary to click the feature to select it and then press the left mouse button again to drag it. When the mode is turned off it is possible to select a feature and begin moving it just by pressing the left mouse button once. |
Moving selected vertices only | On/Off | Off | Similarly to the previous case, but for moving feature vertices. |
Maximum size of undo stack | Integer number | 25 | The number of last editing operations which the user can undo. The value 0 means unlimited size of rollback stack (to be more exact, limited only by the size of free memory). |
Default slope of text feature | Real number (of degrees) | 0.0 | Is offered by default when adding text features. |
Step of changing text feature slope | Real number (of degrees) | 15.0 | Is offered by default when adding text features. |
Default height of text features | Real number (fraction of map range) | 0.005 | Is offered by default when adding text features. |
Step of changing text feature height | Real number (fraction of default height) | 0.2 | Is offered by default when adding text features. |
Default slope of point features | Real number (of degrees) | 0.0 | Is offered by default when adding point features. |
Step of changing point feature slope | Real number (of degrees) | 15.0 | Is offered by default when adding point features. |
Default size of point features | Real number (fraction of map range) | 0.01 | The size is evaluated as product of map range to this factor. |
Step of changing point feature size | Real number (fraction of default size) | 0.2 | Is offered by default when adding point features. |
Default zoom threshold | Real number (pixels) | 15.0 | Is offered by default when adding point features. |
Step of changing zoom threshold | Real number (fraction of default zoom threshold) | 0.2 | Is offered by default when adding point features. |
“Fast” features adding | On/Off | Off | When the mode is turned on the added feature is displayed above other map features even if this new feature belongs to underlying map layer. It permits the system to avoid redrawing of a theme after adding every new feature. Later, when theme redrawing is performed, the added feature falls into the necessary layer. |
Rounding control point coordinates | On/Off | Off | Rounding is used in the window of editing image features in automatic prediction of coordinates of control points. |
Step of rounding control point coordinates. | Real number (of map units) | 1.0 | Used when the mode of rounding coordinates of control points is turned on. |
