Changing parameters of text features

Unlike area or line features each of which is specified by a set of vertex coordinates, text features are characterized by coordinates of only one point (the top left corner of the text) and also by three other parameters: the text itself, the font height and slope angle. In some cases the possibility of specifying values of all the three parameters or some of them for a whole group of text features may be useful.

When performing the menu command Tools+Parameters of Text Features wizard of changing parameters of text features is started. The first page of this wizard is shown at figure 19-3.

On this page it is determined parameters of which text features in particular should be changed. The radio button Selected features can be checked only in the case if there were selected features, only text ones, in the map browser window when calling the wizard. If the radio button Features of specified layers and types is checked, types of text features taking part in the operation should be marked in the list. It should be kept in mind that all map features belonging to specified types will be changed, not only the ones located in displayed fragment.

The buttons Select all and Clean all enable the user to speed up the marking process.

The second wizard page is shown at figure 19-4.

On this page the user should specify which parameters of text features should be changed. To do this it is required to select one or more parameters subject to changing using the checkboxes Height of characters, Slope angle and Text. For marked parameters their new values should be entered. Unmarked parameters keep their previous values.

It is possible to specify instead of new values of parameters Height of characters and Slope angle increments which should be added to the current values of these parameters for every feature. To do this it is required to check the box relative to current values located opposite the corresponding parameter. Values of increments can be negative, however, as a result the height of each character will be set not less than 0.1 of map unit.

On the third wizard page shown at figure 19-5 the user can indicate the necessity of creating a rollback file which can be used for canceling the performed operation of changing parameters in future.

If the user checks the box Rollback he should indicate the folder and the name of the rollback file pushing the button Browse. ObjectLand uses ROL extension for these files.

If the file with selected name already exists the user should check one of the two radio buttons: Overwrite, that is, replace the file contents, or Append – add data to the end of the existing file. This variant gives a possibility to subsequent canceling of several performed operations simultaneously.

If the rollback file is not created canceling of the performed operation will be impossible.

On the last, fourth wizard page the system displays settings made on previous pages. After pushing the button Perform the system performs the operation of changing parameters.
