As it was pointed out above, shared style library is a separate ObjectLand component which is not part of any GDB. Shared style library is opened automatically during ObjectLand startup.
When working with shared style library the same open modes as for working with GDB can be used, such as standard mode or any combination of read only open mode, mode of working with change file and mode of shared access. As for GDB, using of mode with change file right from the start is prohibited and to get permission for it, it is required to use the menu command GDB+Settings (see chapter 8 “System parameters setting”).
