Performing local installation from distributive

The user has a possibility to install ObjectLand from distributive directly to the local disk, not using the server. If the computer is not included into the network, this is the only installation variant possible.

For executing local installation one should find an installation program setup.exe in CD-ROM root folder (or CD-ROM copy on a hard disk) and run this program without parameters:

setup

For local installation from a compact distributive it is required to execute without parameters a file Objectland.X.Y.Z.exe (X.Y.Z is the number of ObjectLand version being installed), for example:

Objectland.2.7.1

In the process of ObjectLand installation the user only has to answer some questions.

Start window which appears before the installation process is indicated at figure 2-1.

At the next step the installation program demonstrates a text of license agreement for usage of the software “GIS ObjectLand”. Installation can be continued only in the case, if the user turns on the radio button I accept the terms of the license agreement.

If the user accepts conditions of the license agreement, he or she should enter his or her name, company name and serial number of the product as it is shown at figure 2-2.

Figure 2-2. Entering of name and serial number

Figure 2-2. Entering of name and serial number

Serial number of the product is indicated inside the envelope of the disk with program distributive.

If the serial number is entered correctly, the installation program asks to indicate a folder for local allocation of ObjectLand program files. By default “C:\Program Files\ObjectLand” folder is offered. ObjectLand data files (demo GDB and shared libraries) are located in folders in which Windows offers to locate the data for installed applications which is shared for all the users. Concrete paths of these folders depend on the version and configuration of the operating system.

Later the user should select the variant of local installation (figure 2-3):

If the user chose the custom installation, at the next step he should select system components to be installed (figure 2-4)

The user checks the boxes opposite the components that he wants to place on the local disk. At the bottom of the window approximate size of the disk memory required for selected installation variant is indicated.

If the user does not install all the system components and then decides to use additional components, he will be able to install additional components later on (see subsection “Reinstallation and removal of the system”).

Next system question concerns selecting a folder in the menu Start+Programs for locating startup commands of ObjectLand and additional programs. By default a folder “ObjectLand” is offered.

At the next step the user should push the button Install in order to start the process of installation of selected ObjectLand components.
