This procedure becomes possible after installation on network described in the previous item has been executed.
For performing network installation it is required to find setup.exe program in the server folder chosen for installation on network and execute the program without parameters.
The start window of the installation program will display an amplifying message: “GIS ObjectLand "NETWORK" installation”.
At the next step of the installation program the user should either accept or reject the conditions of the license agreement. If the user accepts the conditions of the agreement, he or she should enter his or her name, company name and serial number of the product (see figure 2-5).
Then, the installation program asks to indicate a folder for local allocation of ObjectLand. By default “C:\Program Files\ObjectLand” folder is offered.
After that the installation program offers to select the variant of network installation (figure 2-5):
Figure 2-5. Selecting the variant of local installation when performing network installation
Compact network – all components remain at the server.
Complete – all components are copied to the local disk.
Custom – enables the user to select which system components should be installed on the local disk.
ObjectLand COM server installation – permits using functional capabilities of ObjectLand in other Windows applications.
Typical network – recommended installation variant. Most files remain on the server.
The window at figure 2-5 is similar to the window from figure 2-3 which is displayed at local installation from distributive. However, the meaning of choice made by the user is different in these two cases. In local installation from distributive only the selected components become available. In network installation all system components will be accessible to the user one way or the other, and the installation variant determines only which components will be located on the local disk, and which ones will be called from the server.
If the user chose custom installation, at the next step he should select the system components to be installed on the local disk (figure 2-6).
Figure 2-6 Selecting components for local installation
The user checks the boxes opposite those components and subcomponents that he wants to place on the local disk.
Next system question concerns selecting a folder in the menu Start+Programs for locating startup commands of ObjectLand and additional programs. By default “ObjectLand” folder is offered.
At the next step the user should push the button Install in order to start the process of installation of selected ObjectLand components on the local disk.
