DXF format is one of the formats of spatial data supported by computer-aided design system AutoCAD. DXF format is intended especially for exchanging data with other systems. To import data from this format it is required to do the following:
have a file of map page in DXF format (this file will be called DXF file further). As a rule, the name of such a file has DXF extension;
select the map to which data from DXF file will be imported;
perform the command Import+From DXF Format. After performing this command, the procedure of setting and executing import is started. This procedure consists of several steps;
perform import setting and import data from DXF file to the map.
If the system does not detect serious errors in the structure of DXF file, import of data from DXF file to selected map will be performed in accordance with the specified settings. Information about errors found in descriptions of DXF file features will be put in report file on import.
Further in this chapter we will examine actions on performing import setting, provide recommendations how to eliminate errors which appear in import operations and describe the format of import settings file.
