MIF format is a format of exchanging data supported by GIS MapInfo. The file of MIF format contains data about MapInfo features. Description of table data structure containing attributive information linked with features can be also present in MIF file. If there is such a table, all its records are kept in a separate file (MID file) having the same name as MIF file but with other extension.
To import data of MIF format it is required to do the following:
have a file of map page in MIF format. The name of such a file has MIF extension. If there is table data linked with features from MIF file, the file with MID extension with the same name is also necessary;
select the map to which data from MIF file will be imported;
perform the command Import+From MIF Format. After that procedure of setting and performing import is started. This procedure consists of several steps;
perform import setting and import data from MIF file to the map, and also table data from MID file (if any) – to selected table.
If the system does not detect serious errors in MIF and MID import files, import of data from files to selected map and table will be performed in accordance with specified settings. Data about errors found in MIF and MID files will be put in report file on import.
