Chapter 66. Import of spatial data in SHP format

Files of SHP format are supported by ArcView and ARC/INFO systems. SHP file contains a list of features (shapes) which belong to one and the same spatial category (shape type). An index file of SHX format which is not used in the course of import and a file of table data of DBF format can be linked with every SHP file. There is a possibility to set a link between features loaded from SHP file and corresponding table records loaded from DBF file.
