As it was said before, the whole settings of the operation can be saved in a text file of a special format – settings file of the operation.
Setting of import and export operations for complex structures of data is a rather difficult and time-consuming procedure. That is why if the operation for data with the same structure is performed rather often, it is advisable to save settings in the file and use it when performing export or import later.
If errors are detected while the settings file is loaded, a message characterizing this error will be displayed. An example of such a message is shown at figure 61-2.
Figure 61-2. Message about an error in the settings file
The user can continue loading the settings file, only correct lines will be loaded. If the user answers Yes to the question “Do you want to ignore further errors?”, incorrect file lines will be rejected without displaying any messages. If the user pushes the button Cancel, loading of the settings file will not be performed.
It is possible to indicate three main reasons for appearance of errors when loading the settings file.
The first reason – errors made in the settings file when editing it. Since the file is a text one, sometimes one may want to enter slight changes into it using some text editor. It is possible to do it but not advisable: all changes in the settings file can be made using procedure of import (export).
The second reason – using the settings file created for other GDB components which structure is different from that of selected component.
The third reason – changes made in the structure of GDB component (for example, some map layers were removed or renamed) are not reflected in the used settings file. In this case it is possible to perform setting of import (export) anew.
