Accurate arrangement of elements on the page is a very troublesome and uninteresting task. It can be made easier using the commands of the nested menu Element+Align which provide different types of aligning position of elements on the layout page. All these commands are duplicated by alignment toolbar buttons.
Performing all operations of alignment considerably depend on the number of selected layout elements.
If not less than two layout elements are selected, the active element (the first selected one) will play the role of a model for alignment while other selected elements will be aligned according to this model.
If one element of the layout is selected, the layout page will play the role of a model, that is, selected element will be aligned with respect to the page.
All alignment commands are enumerated below.
The commands Element+Align+Left, Element+Align+Right (the buttons
and
) cause moving of all selected elements (except for the model) along the horizontal axis in such a way that their left borders (or right borders accordingly) coincided with the model border.
The commands Elements+Align+Top, Element+Align+Bottom (the buttons
and
) cause moving of all selected elements (except for the model) along the vertical axis in such a way that their upper borders (or lower borders accordingly) coincided with the model border.
The commands Element+Align+By Horizontal, Element+Align+By Vertical (the buttons
and
) cause moving of all selected elements (except for the model) by horizontal axis (or by vertical axis accordingly) in such a way that their middle lines coincided with the model middle line.
The commands Element+Align+By Width, Element+Align+By Height (the buttons
and
) cause changing of horizontal sizes (or vertical ones accordingly) in such a way that they were equal to the model size.
