Selecting elements

In the mode Select (the button ) the user can select one or several layout elements. Element selection allows the user to change its sizes and properties. Selection of several elements permits performing some operations with all selected elements at once (moving, removing, transfer to buffer).

The cursor takes the shape of an arrow in selection mode: .

To select one element it is necessary to click this element. If the element is an outline one (for example, a rectangle or a circle without filling of internal area), it is required to click near its border. Appearance of square handles in characteristic points around the element is an indication of successful selection. The first selected layout element becomes an active element. The active element is singled out using handles the color of which is complementary to the background color (for example, handles are black against the white background of the page).

To select several elements it is necessary to click them holding down the key Ctrl. All selected elements except for the active one are marked by gray handles.

To reset selection of the element one should click it while holding down the key Alt. To reset selection of all elements it is enough to click in such a place where there are no elements.

To select all elements located inside some rectangular area it is necessary to press the mouse button in one of the corners of this area, move the cursor to the opposite corner and release the mouse button. A similar operation performed while holding down the key Ctrl or Alt causes adding of elements in rectangular area to the selection set or resetting selection of these elements.
