All elements from which a layout may consist can be divided into two groups: presentation elements and data elements.
Presentation elements are graphics drawn on the layout page. They are not connected with data from maps and tables of GDB at all. The following presentation elements are used in ObjectLand:
text inscriptions;
map symbols from shared library and GDB libraries;
polylines;
polygons;
circles;
ellipses;
rectangles;
raster graphics.
Data elements are graphic representations of spatial or table data from the current GDB. The following elements belong to this group:
themes;
legends and scale bars linked with particular themes;
tables;
charts.
In the case when the user opens a window with layout display and then changes data or structure of those themes or queries which are displayed in the layout, the changes made will be shown in the layout as soon as the window containing the layout becomes active again.
