Values displayed in table cells are string formatted representations of actual values which are stored in the system in internal form depending on the data type. Displayed representation can contain considerably less data than in internal form depending on the chosen formatting string. For example, the formatting string can specify display of one or two digits of the fractional part of the real number, though internal form provides more precision.
Some standard string representation reflecting the value stored in the cell with maximum precision exists for every type of data. When selecting a cell this standard representation is displayed in the input field located in the right part of the data toolbar.
The user can set a mode in which standard representations of values are displayed in all table cells. To do this the menu command View+Unformatted Values should be performed or the button
of the standard toolbar should be pushed.
The term “Unformatted values” is a little bit conditional in this case. It reflects the fact that formatting values specified using the formatting strings for cells is disabled in this mode (see “General rules of formatting values”). The formatting will be restored after turning off the mode of displaying unformatted values.
