The menu command View+Snap Grid (or the button 
of the command toolbar) permits turning on and turning off display of the grid on the editing pane. Grid step (distance between its points) is specified as one of the properties of layout page (see chapter 45 “Layout editor and layout page”, subsection “Properties of layout page”).
Grid points are displayed in the editing pane only if the distance between them on the screen exceeds a certain threshold, otherwise the whole page of the layout would be gray because of these points.
