The mode toolbar button
serves for adding a new element – vectorial or raster symbol from the library.
The user should specify a square in the editing pane inside of which the map symbol should be placed. To do this it is necessary to press the mouse button in the point where the center of the map symbol should be located, to stretch the square up to required size and then release the button.
After building the square the system opens a dialog box “Adding/Properties of symbol” (figure 46-2) which permits selecting the map symbol from the shared library or GDB library, specify the height of the bounding box and for vectorial symbols – the slope angle as well.

The example at figure 37-2 shows a raster symbol, that is why the field Slope is disabled.
If the user refuses to specify properties (for example, pushes the button Cancel) adding of symbol is canceled.
