There are several methods for creating cataloged queries.
The command Query+Save as in the table browser window allows for creating a cataloged query. Before cataloging the system will request a name for the cataloged query. Later on this name can be used for calling the present query. All manipulations with changing representation in the browser window: setting search and sorting conditions, disabling and enabling duplicating records, field displaying format, hiding or disabling editing for some fields, setting reference tables, joins, etc. will be stored as a method of building a cataloged query.
The command Query+Save acts like the command Query+Save as if a non-cataloged query, that is a query without a name, is browsed. For a cataloged query this command permits storing changes entered in the method of forming the browsed query. That means that if another method of sorting records was specified in the query browser window, search condition was changed, some fields were hidden and so on, then after performing the command Query+Save these operations will be stored as a method of forming a query.
The command Edit+Duplicate of the navigation window allows the user to create a new query the method of building which will be fully identical to the method of building the query selected in one of the window panes in advance. The system will request a name for a new query. The query obtained in such a way can serve as a basis for further modifications.
The command Edit+Add of the navigation window (provided the component “Queries” is selected in the component pane) allows for creating a new query. The system will request a name for a new query. Besides, the system will request to specify the base table for the query. The query created in such a way will correspond to the standard method of base table display.
