Table browser window

To browse the table contents it is required to select a table in the navigation window and perform the command Open (menu item Edit+Open or the button in the toolbar). The result of these actions is opening a table browser window. At figure 24-1 a table browser window opened for the selected table “List of Building Certificates” is given and the main parts of this window are shown.

Figure 24-1. Table browser window

Immediately after opening the table browser window, a table is displayed in a standard representation form:

The main window pane is called table pane. Above the table pane there is a table caption in which names of table fields are indicated. To the left a pane of record numbers is located.

An arbitrary number of browser windows can be opened for one table. All changes of table records – removing, editing as well as adding records – will be displayed in other browser windows of the same table when they are activated. On the other hand, all the settings connected with representation (displaying) of a table by no means affect the settings of representation in other browser windows.

The window menu and the toolbar enable the user to perform commands of changing the table contents – records, as well as changing table representation.

The command View+Update causes redrawing of all the contents of the window. In some cases when the table is edited by several users in shared access mode, the system is unable to automatically update table display in the browser window and shows a warning message recommending to perform the command Update.

The user has a possibility to perform setting of control elements of the window (menus, toolbars, shortcut keys). Executing setting is described in detail in chapter 12 “Themes”, subsection “Customizing window control elements”.
